BBC Radio 4 interview
Last night around 11PM I got a call from the BBC Radio 4 if I was willing to give an interview the next morning about the impact of the 14 days self isolation for British people holidaying in France. That news was just 20 minutes old.
I am thankful that Darren didn’t tell me before my interview that BBC Radio 4 is the most important news broadcaster in the UK with millions of listeners.

BBC Essex Radio
Friday I received a phone call from the BBC Essex Radio station if I wanted to be interviewed about Covid-19 in France and the impact it has for the Bed & Breakfast business.
This morning at 8AM French time I got the call from the producer who checked the latest things and told me when I was going to be on air.
You might wonder why BBC Essex ? Well 10 years ago Darren gave an interview about commuting between the UK and France and they have kept our details, and since Darren is from the Essex area…..the link is there.

Le mois de juillet est presque terminé et nous tenons à remercier tous nos clients d’ici et d’ailleurs pour leur réservation. Toutes les réservations étaient pour des périodes plus longues et nous avons été extrêmement occupés ce mois-ci. Vous étiez tous des invités très gentils et agréables.
Le mois d’août sera également chargé avec les invités de retour que nous avons rencontrés l’année dernière et de nouvelles réunions sont imminentes. Nous attendons avec impatience.
July is almost over and we would like to thank all our guests from home and abroad for their booking. All reservations were for longer periods and we were extremely busy this month. You were all very nice and pleasant guests.
August is also going to be a busy month with returning guests we met last year and new meetings are just around the corner. We are looking forward to it.
De maand juli is bijna om en wij willen al onze gasten uit binnen- en buitenland heel hartelijk bedanken voor hun boeking. Alle reserveringen waren voor langere periodes en we waren extreem druk in deze maand. Jullie waren allemaal zeer fijne en prettige gasten.
Ook augustus wordt een drukke maand met terugkerende gasten die we vorig jaar hebben ontmoet en nieuwe ontmoetingen staan voor de deur. Wij kijken er naar uit.
E-Book Charente
Comme il n’est pas permis d’avoir des brochures dans les hébergements de vacances, sauf si vous les avez plastifiées puis désinfectées (tout le temps), nous avons réalisé un e-book sur nos chambres d’hôtes et la Charente avec des activitées culturels et sportifs, divers conseils pour les restaurants, des excursions d’une journée, etc.
Le livre électronique est disponible en français, anglais et néerlandais et vous sera envoyé par e-mail sur demande.
Since it’s not allowed to have brochures in holiday accommodations, unless you have laminated and then disinfect them (all the time), we have made an e-book about our B&B and The Charente with cultural and sportive activities, tips for the best restaurants, days out, etc.
The e-book is available in French, English and Dutch and will be e-mailed to you upon request.
Omdat het niet is toegestaan om brochures in vakantieverblijven te hebben, tenzij je ze hebt gelamineerd en steeds gedesinfecteerd, hebben we met veel plezier een e-boek gemaakt over ons gastenverblijf en de Charente met culturele en sportieve uitstapjes, diverse tips voor restaurants, dagtrips, etc.
Het e-book is beschikbaar in het Frans, Engels en Nederlands en wordt op verzoek naar u gemaild.
Moederdag op z’n Frans
Vandaag vieren we in Frankrijk Moederdag; wel lastig hoor die verschillende data in Nederland en Engeland. Vroeger vierden we het nog wel eens 3 x maar inmiddels houden we ons aan de Franse datum; we wonen hier immers!
Van Fleur kreeg ik een zelfgemaakt dienblad, haar vriend Alexis had hetzelfde -in aangepaste versie- voor zijn moeder gemaakt. Het ziet er picobello uit en in ben er dan ook erg blij mee.
We waren vandaag uitgenodigd door de grootouders van Alexis voor de lunch. Wat kunnen de Fransen dat toch stukken beter dan wij! Gelukkig konden we buiten genieten van een uitgebreid ‘Champagne apéritief’, ook met een gazpacho verrine en een verrine met een heerlijk rode bieten drankje.
Binnen waren er 2 tafels feestelijk gedekt. De 1ste Charentaise meloen van dit jaar lag al op ons bord, uiteraard met wat rauwe ham en een glaasje Pineau des Charentes, ons lokale apéritief, maar ook als slaapmutsje is het lekker. Vervolgens werd de enorme barbecue aangestoken en lagen er heerlijke gemarineerde biefstuk en kip spiezen op ons te wachten. Ik ben niet zo’n grote vleeseter, maar heb er toch 2 opgegeten, geserveerd met een enorme schaal aardappel/courgette gratin, uit eigen tuin.
Uiteraard ontbrak het kaasplateau niet, met sla zoals dat in de Charente wordt gegeten. Vervolgens kregen we huisgemaakte tiramisu en alsof dat nog niet genoeg was, kwamen er ook nog kleine potjes met een verse fruitsalade en wie nog meer wilde; kijk maar naar de foto, er was nog voor 25 man! 
Bij de koffie kregen de moeders een schaaltje met smarties en een macaron in de vorm van een hart en konden we ons hart ook nog eens ophalen met de andere macaron lekkernijen. 
Het was in 1 woord fantastisch! Wat een werk en wat een feestelijke tafel en tenslotte kreeg ik nog een plantje mee dat op tafel stond en een enorme courgette.
Het was een Moederdag die ik niet zal vergeten.

Nous recherchons un appartement en location à Bordeaux (33000) T2 dans un quartier soigné pour notre fille et son ami qui y étudieront toutes les deux. De préférence par un particulier, car l’expérience avec les courtiers est dramatique. Budget: 700 euros max par mois, gaz, électricité et électricité compris. Loyer minimum pour une période de 1 an, éventuellement prolongation. Meublé ou non, ce n’est pas si important pour le moment.
Disponible à partir de juillet, août, (début) septembre.
Pour la «pointe d’or» si elle conduit à la location, vous pouvez séjourner gratuitement 2 nuits, petit déjeuner compris, dans notre chambre d’hôtes (Au Bellefleur – Sigogne).

We are looking for a rental apartment in Bordeaux (33000) T2 in a neat neighborhood for our daughter and her friend who will both study there. Preferably through a private individual, because the experience with estate agents is dramatic. Budget: 700 euros max per month, including gas, electricity and electricity. Minimum rent for a period of 1 year, possibly extension. Furnished or not, is not that important at the moment.
Available from July, August, (early) September.

À partir du 2 juin, nous voulons à nouveau recevoir les premiers invités, mais à une distance appropriée.
Le départ et l’enregistrement le même jour ne sont pas possibles; De cette façon, nous garantissons que votre chambre sera vide pendant au moins 24 heures. Oui, nous réalisons que cela nous coûte de l’argent, mais nous pensons que la santé de chacun est plus importante.
Nous nettoyons normalement votre chambre tous les jours le matin; cependant, nous pouvons imaginer que vous pourriez ne pas vouloir cela. Nous en discuterons avec vous sur place. Bien sûr, nous nous assurons que vous avez des serviettes supplémentaires, du papier toilette, du shampoing, etc. dans la chambre.
À l’heure convenue, votre petit-déjeuner sera prêt sur votre table dans la salle commune prévue à cet effet. Vous ne partagez pas la même table lorsqu’il y a d’autres invités.
Le jour de l’arrivée, nous vous demandons ce que vous voulez pour votre petit-déjeuner, afin d’éviter tout gaspillage supplémentaire.
Lorsque nous préparons le petit-déjeuner et que nous nettoyons, nous portons des gants et un masque facial.
Parce qu’il y a encore une pénurie de gel désinfectant pour le moment, nous vous demandons de bien vouloir apporter le vôtre avec vous si vous le pouvez, (nous avons des fournitures limitées de désinfectant pour les mains).
Nous sommes extrêmement attentifs à l’hygiène pour minimiser les risques d’infection par le virus COVID-19.
Nous préférons que vous payiez avec nous avec votre carte de crédit. Nous pouvons accepter ces cartes:

Our additional measures COVID-19
From 2nd June, we will start welcoming guests again, but we must still maintain the social distancing rules.
Our guests will not be checked in to a room on the same day the previous guests check out; this way we guarantee that your room will be aired for at least 24 hours, fully cleaned and disinfected. Yes, we realize that it costs us money, but everyone’s health is more important.
We normally clean your room daily in the morning; however, we can imagine that you may not want this. We will discuss this with you on your arrival. Of course, we will ensure that you have enough towels, toilet paper, shampoo, etc. in your room.
Your breakfast is ready on your table in the communal breakfast area at the agreed time. You don’t share the same table should there be other guests.
On the day of your arrival, we ask you what you want for your breakfast, to avoid extra waste.
When we clean or preparing breakfast we will wear gloves and a face mask.
Because there is still a shortage of disinfectant gel at the moment, we kindly ask you to bring your own with you if you can, (we do have limited supplies of hand sanitiser).
We are being extra attentive to hygiene to minimize the chance of infection of the COVID-19 virus.
We prefer payment by credit card and we are now able to accept the following cards:

Onze extra maatregelen COVID-19
Met ingang van 2 juni willen wij weer de eerste gasten ontvangen, maar wel op gepaste afstand.
Uitchecken en inchecken op dezelfde dag is niet mogelijk; zo garanderen wij u dat uw kamer minimaal 24 uur leegstaat. Ja we beseffen dat dat ons geld kost, maar de gezondheid van iedereen vinden wij belangrijker.
Wij maken normaliter dagelijks in de ochtend uw kamer schoon; echter wij kunnen het ons voorstellen dat u dit wellicht niet wilt. Wij bespreken dat ter plaatse met u. Uiteraard zorgen wij ervoor dat u extra handdoeken, toiletpapier, shampoo, etc. op de kamer heeft.
Op de afgesproken tijd staat uw ontbijt klaar op uw tafel in de gemeenschappelijke ontbijtruimte. U deelt niet dezelfde tafel als er andere gasten zijn.
Op de dag van aankomst vragen we u wat u wilt voor uw ontbijt, om extra afval te voorkomen.
Als we het ontbijt klaarmaken en aan de schoonmaak zijn, dragen we handschoenen en een gezichtsmasker.
Omdat er op dit moment nog een tekort aan desinfecterende gel is, vragen wij u vriendelijk om deze zelf mee te nemen als u kunt (we hebben een beperkte voorraad handdesinfectie).
We besteden extra aandacht aan hygiëne om de kans op infectie van het COVID-19-virus te minimaliseren.
Wij verzoeken u bij voorkeur om met uw credit card bij ons betalen. Deze kaarten kunnen wij accepteren:

Le Premier ministre Philippe vient de publier les détails du “Plan Marshall” pour le tourisme.
Sa principale nouvelle: en juillet et août, les vacances d’été peuvent être célébrées dans les régions. Cela implique que les “100 km de maison standard” seront annulés, également pour les chambres d´hôtes et les hôtels. Des restrictions locales peuvent s’appliquer. Heureusement, la Charente a toujours été une zone verte et nous aimerions que cela continue.
Le 2 juin, les restaurants et cafés des régions “vertes” seront autorisés à rentrer, sous réserve des règles applicables s’il y a suffisamment de distance, la “distanciation sociale”.
Tout cela à condition que le virus reste gérable.
Pas de nouvelles concernant le tourisme étranger, ouverture des frontières. Cette question sera probablement examinée dans le contexte de l’UE.
